National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium
Aquatic Invaders Traveling Exhibit
DESIGNED TO ENGAGE, BUILT TO MOVE
To help audiences understand the impact of invasive species on native aquatic life, the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium developed a traveling exhibit that’s educational, portable, and engaging. We delivered a set of durable, double-sided displays designed to spark curiosity and inspire action—whether the exhibit appears in a classroom, visitor center, or any other venue.
Developed and fabricated entirely in-house, these mobile components fit together with ease while offering a tactile learning experience that’s anything but static. The exhibit is durable and easy to set up and break down, and it includes custom shipping containers for safe, efficient transport between locations.

PLINKO WITH A PURPOSE
A standout feature of the exhibit is a Plinko-style game that illustrates the many obstacles fish face when trying to spawn each year. As visitors drop a disk down the board, it bounces off barriers that represent pollution, dams, and invasive predators—turning a playful experience into a powerful teaching moment.
ROTATING PANELS TELL MULTILAYERED STORIES
To make the most of limited space, the exhibit includes custom-built rotating panels that multiply the amount of content each display can hold. These panels invite guests to explore at their own pace, flipping between facts, visuals, and stories that build a deeper understanding of how ecosystems can be disrupted.
A FISH THAT LEAPS TO LIFE
One display features a custom, handcrafted fish replica that appears to leap from the panel—capturing the species’ form, motion, and defining characteristics. Designed to invite deeper inspection, the sculpture gives visitors a vivid, up-close view of native aquatic life and the traits that make each species unique.
